Governor Pataki Announces $40 Million For New State Food Lab
This is a pile of poop! As far as we know, spinach does not defecate.
Would it be too much to expect the GOV to check the real source of the ecoli? Like maybe the livestock factories which are masquerading as farms????
And of course, Cornell rakes in the cash while they continue to pretend that the failed CAFO model is good for farmers and good for the economy. What a scam!
The lab will be in the Cornell Agriculture and Food Technology Park in Geneva, Ontario County. It will be part of a group of high-tech facilities dedicated to agrulculture, food, and biological-based enterprises.
The Governor says the recent E. coli outbreak from fresh spinach shows the importance of vigilant food surveillance and testing. The lab will provide expert analytical testing for all food safety and security programs around New York.
The lab is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
